The human hours spent chasing AI errors that nobody counts: the cumulative effort of reviewing, validating, repairing and integrating AI-generated artefacts, inspection time and the cognitive effort of checking correctness included.
The decisive finding is that the burden is not evenly distributed. Those closest to day-to-day workflows carry a disproportionate share, while the benefits of speed are most visible to those furthest from them.
What it means for an SME running AI
The person who saves the time and the person who spends it are usually not the same. That is why the gain is reported upward and the cost never is.
